DESCRIPTION:Shraddha Paksha is observed as a sacred 15-day lunar period from September 26 to October 10\, dedicated to honoring ancestors through rites that bridge the physical and spiritual realms. During this “fortnight of ancestors\,” Hindus perform rituals such as Tarpan (libations of water and sesame seeds) and Pind Daan (offering of rice balls) to provide peace and nourishment to the souls of three preceding generations. It is a time for deep reflection and gratitude\, where families seek to settle ancestral debts (Pitru Rin) and resolve karmic blockages believed to affect family harmony\, health\, and prosperity. Traditionally\, the period is marked by austerity—avoiding non-vegetarian food\, significant new purchases\, or celebratory events—while emphasizing charity by feeding the needy\, Brahmins\, and animals like crows and cows\, who are viewed as messengers for the departed.
