The Geeta Ashram Sunday Classes for Youth/Children are held every Sunday from 11.15am to 12.30pm. These classes are complimentary and are conducted in English in a fun and interactive manner. These classes are split into various groups to ensure that students can cope with the pace they are at.
The students are taught to recite some important mantras which are compiled in a prayer book. They are also taught the HanumanChalisa, Geeta Mahatmyam, etc. Our main focus is on the Bhagavad Geeta. All the students are taught Chapter 12 and are later introduced to other chapters of the Bhagavad Geeta. They are also encouraged to speak on the verses they have learnt in the main Sunday Programme (Satsang) as young Speakers. This gives them an opportunity to enhance their public speaking skills and more importantly to understand the Bhagavad Geeta better. The students are also taught on the significance of our religious festivals. We share some stories with the children so they can get a better understanding of the scriptures, festivals etc. and also imbibe human values.
We also teach the students Bhajans and Aartis of the various deities. In 2023, we plan to get the students to lead the bhajan session in the main Sunday Satsang once a month. The students also participate in the Bhajan Yatra held annually in the Geeta Ashram. We encourage the students to bring their instruments along to enhance the bhajan sessions.
One of the highlights for the students are the skits, plays and dances they put up for Janamasthmi. Everyone is involved whether it is in acting, designing and making the props, dancing or writing scripts. This once again gives them an opportunity to do teamwork and imbibe the scriptures in a fun way.
