At Geeta Ashram Malaysia, Geeta Jayanti is one of the most significant annual events, celebrated as the “birthday” of the Shrimad Bhagavad Geeta.
It marks the day Lord Krishna delivered his immortal message to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
The 18-Day Celebration (Geeta Yagya)
The centrepiece of the celebration is an 18-day Geeta Yagya, where the ashram journeys through the entire scripture:
Daily Recitation: Each day is dedicated to one specific chapter of the Bhagavad Geeta, which is recited in full by devotees.
Discourses: The recitation is followed by a spiritual discourse or commentary on that day’s chapter, often delivered by guest speakers, resident pandits, or even the ashram’s youth.
Schedule: These sessions typically run from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM daily, with a special Sunday schedule from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Youth and Children’s Participation
The Geeta Ashram Youth play a vital role in these celebrations:
Leading Recitations: Younger children often lead the chanting of Chapter 12 (Bhakti Yoga), which is a staple of ashram gatherings.
Multimedia Support: The youth ensure that verses and lyrics for bhajans and aartis are projected so all attendees can participate.
Speeches: Older youth may prepare and deliver speeches or commentaries on specific verses to build their confidence and spiritual understanding.
